Yoga therapy

What is yoga therapy?

Yoga therapy uses evidence-based, simple and accessible practices which include movement, breathwork, guided meditation and relaxation - some of which take as little as 5mins - to support and improve physical, mental and emotional wellbeing so that you can thrive in modern life.

Meaning I use yoga therapy to help people move from any painful, difficult or challenging places to somewhere better, more comfortable and at ease.

Yoga therapy sessions are rooted in the science of yoga and are therefore a research led and effective wellbeing choice which brings together modern science, biomedicine, neuroscience, psychology, trauma sensitive training, and ancient yoga wisdom.

How I work

As a yoga therapist, I’m passionate about equipping people with simple, accessible tools which are effective for their needs and can be applied in their everyday lives, not just in our sessions.

This therapeutic approach is person centric and holistic - I work with you as a whole individual, responding to your needs in a safe, welcoming and informed manner.

Sessions are tailored for what you need whether you want to:

  • support your everyday quality of life and cultivate greater calm and resilience

  • recover from a particular event, experience, struggle or feeling

  • access supporting tools to help you live with greater comfort and ease whatever your difficulties

  • improve performance, reach goals, or prepare for an event such as exam, speech, birth or surgery

  • comfortably recover from or live with an injury, condition or illness

  • tools to help you with any physical, mental or emotional stress, discomfort or pain

  • connect to things that truly matter to you so that you can build a positive future and find greater ease in the present regardless of circumstances

  • use this therapeutic approach as a stand-alone tool or as a complimentary practice in addition to your current therapeutic support.

This is achieved gently using yoga therapy tools to help you develop:

  • more self-agency (via greater embodiment which is awareness and attunement to your internal and external states)

  • better relationship and understanding of your autonomic nervous system (so that you can switch between ‘safe” and “protective” modes more freely and consciously)

  • greater resilience (by widening your window of tolerance)

  • skills to deal with life’s challenges whether they are physical, mental and emotional (by gaining effective tools that help you manage the space between stimulus and response so that you can choose more often to respond rather than react)

  • balance in life with an appreciation for your personal needs and values which translates to improved wellbeing and quality of life.
