What to expect from your yoga therapy session

The range of practices in your yoga therapy sessions are tailored and reflect your needs. They may include:

  • yoga postures and movement

  • breathing exercises

  • meditation

  • relaxation

  • guided yoga sleep (yoga nidra)

I always recommend starting with a telephone introduction followed by 6 sessions to help you make the most of the therapeutic benefits. There is no fixed number of session and I work with clients on a long and short term basis depending on your needs.

Here is what you can expect from each session:

  • Initial telephone introduction - free telephone introduction

    • opportunity to introduce ourselves and have a chat about how yoga therapy can support you (allow 10-30 mins)

  • Session 1 - your first consultation and intake

    • an introduction to the approach, an opportunity for us to meet each other and see how we work together, build a general picture of your needs including your key areas of physical, metal and emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, and what you would like to take away from your sessions (90 mins)

  • Session 2 - physical wellbeing consultation

    • a practical focus on areas such as posture, strength, flexibility, range of movement, comfort in movement, movement and breath patterns, for a fuller picture of your wellbeing (90 mins)

  • Sessions 3, 4, 5 and 6 - personally tailored mindful yoga programme

    • bringing together practices which might include elements such as movement, breath and relaxation reflecting your needs (60 mins)

  • Follow up sessions - depending on your needs

    • available as regular or adhoc sessions (60 mins)

  • Home practices

    • you may be offered recorded materials to support you at home between sessions
